38 Million Indians Use Mobile To Access Internet

A study by Finnish giant Nokia says that the number of internet users through mobile is increasing like never before. The study also reveals that the people who access internet from their mobile handsets access internet from their handsets as often as people using PC and laptop to access the net.The year 2007 belongs to broadband, but for the first time in recent memory, the number of internet connections in the country has

fallen. The total internet connections in the country declined to 9.22 million in April-June from 9.27 million in the previous quarter, according to telecom regulator TRAI's performance indicator report for the quarter. India is possibly the only country in the world where internet connections are falling.
The number of people using their mobile handsets for internet connection in India has increased drastically recently. This is more to do with the explosive expansion of mobile connections in India.

A report on mobile expansion some times back had said that mobile phone connections in India will reach 600 million in five years time as handsets and tariffs become more affordable for the urban population, according to a new study published today by the Centre for Telecoms Research (CTR), London.
